Egg Deliveries
WE will be the first to tell you: it's not really about the eggs.
Our egg deliveries are part of a bigger mission: to serve the families in Wuchale, Ethiopia. We began as a purely subscription-based egg provider, but we recently have become licensed in both South Dakota and Iowa to be able to provide eggs through grocery stores, bakeries, and restaurants as well.
Our hens are raised in a cage-free, temperature controlled environment and eat organic feed. Keeping our hens inside protects them from the weather, from predators, and makes them less likely to catch the avian flu from wild birds. Our hens are bought when they are pullets, just weeks away from when they begin to lay. We do not have roosters on our farm. View the hen house accommodations.
Project volunteers deliver eggs weekly to Canton, SD; Fairview, SD; Inwood, IA; and Sioux Falls, SD. Those in Canton and Fairview (closest town to the Van De Stroet farm) can place a subscription for as few as one dozen eggs every other week. Inwood eggs are delivered weekly to Inwood Hatchery, where they can be picked up by community members. Sioux Falls subscribers must order ten dozen or more, usually on an every other week or weekly subscription basis.
In 2025 the board increased the minimum price at $4, which was less than the going rate at local grocery stores. The egg project is responsible for the grocery sales tax in South Dakota, but in Iowa there is no grocery tax associated. Although we have a $4 price for each dozen, we appreciate when subscribers add extra for donations. Special donations for supplies (the cost of chickens, chicken feed, other supplies) are appreciated as well. Please tell us if your donation should be allocated for these supplies.
Payments are accepted in cash, check, ACH, Venmo, and PayPal.
